BlackVue Elite 8 vs Elite 9 vs Elite 10: Which One Is Right for You?
by FFB Tech on Oct 09, 2026
BlackVue's Elite series comes in three generations, and the names do most of the work: the higher the number, the sharper the video. The harder part is deciding whether the extra resolution is worth the extra cost for the way you drive. This guide compares the Elite 8, Elite 9 and Elite 10 so you can pick without overspending.
The short version
- Elite 8: 2K video front and rear. The lowest price of the three, and a good fit if you want Elite-series features without paying for 4K.
- Elite 9: 4K front, 2K rear. A middle step for drivers who care most about the road ahead.
- Elite 10: 4K front and rear. BlackVue's flagship, for drivers who want the sharpest footage in both directions.

Which one should you buy?
Choose the Elite 8 if you want a trusted, compact camera with Elite-series features and your budget matters most. The 1CH covers the road ahead; the 2CH adds a rear camera.
Choose the Elite 9 if the front camera is what you care about. It shares the Elite 10's 4K front camera, so plates and signs ahead are as readable as on the flagship, with a 2K rear camera behind.
Choose the Elite 10 if you want 4K in both directions, or you want a front-only 4K setup at a lower cost with the 10-1CH. You can start with the 10-1CH and add a rear camera later.

Questions we hear
Can I add a rear camera later? Yes. The Elite 8-1CH can take BlackVue's 2K rear camera (RC3-2K-C) to become a two-channel system. On an Elite 10, a 4K rear camera (RC3-4K-C) gives you the full 4K rear video.
Can I upgrade an Elite 9 to 4K at the back? Yes. The Elite 9 and Elite 10 use the same front camera, so adding BlackVue's 4K rear camera (RC3-4K-C) to an Elite 9 gives you 4K front and rear, the same video as the Elite 10-2CH. That is also why there is no Elite 9 front-only model: the Elite 10-1CH is the same front camera.
Do I need the cloud? No. Every model records locally without it. The cloud is optional and needs the CM100GLTE module plus a data-only SIM.
Which memory card? BlackVue's Elite cameras write a lot of data, so a high-endurance card matters; see our guide on high-endurance memory cards.
